11,889 PCR TESTS DONE ON MONDAY (2) - NOCPCO

As of this morning (3), a total of 275 more persons were confirmed positive to COVID-19 in the past 24 hours. All of them were from locally-identified affectees, states the National Operations Centre for Prevention of COVID-19 Outbreak (NOCPCO). Meanwhile, Hemmathagama, Mawanella, Bulathkohupitiya Police divisions and Galigamuwa Pradeshiya Saba area in Kegalle District, and Giriulla Police area in Kurunegala District have been declared isolated areas from Monday (2) evening. By 6.00 this morning (3), the total number of COVID-19 positive cases reported from Minuwangoda garment factory stands at 7,857. Of them, 1041 are factory employees and other 6,816 are locally-identified contacts of those garment factory-infected employees. The flight EY 264 from Abu Dhabi with 11 passengers and the flight QR 688 from Doha, Qatar with 18 passengers have arrived in Colombo. All those passengers were referred to Quarantine Centres (QCs), managed by tri-services after formalities at the airport. Within the day (3), 15 quarantined individuals after PCR tests are set to leave for their homes. Of them, 5 persons are from Dickwella Resort QC, 3 persons from Hotel Jetwing Blue QC and 7 persons from Ayurveda Ragjagiriya QC. To-date, 62,917individuals have left for homes after quarantining. As of this morning (3), 1,082 persons in 35 tri service-managed QCs are still in quarantine. Within yesterday (2), 11,889 PCR tests were carried out across the country and the total PCR tests conducted so far stands at 536,337. By 6.00 this morning (3), 344 fully-recovered COVID-19 patients were discharged from hospitals. Of them, 2 persons were from foreign lands and other 342 persons are identified as close contacts of the Minuwangoda garment factory-infected employees who were in quarantine at QCs.
