382 MORE INFECTED ONES REPORTED IN PAST 24 HRS-NOCPCO

As of this morning (17), a total of 382 more persons were confirmed positive to COVID-19 in the past 24 hours. 8 of them are seafarers (5 Locals and 3 Foreigners) and all other 374 were from locally-identified affectees. Of those persons, 231 are from Colombo, 42 from Gampaha and 20 from Kalutara, states the National Operations Centre for Prevention of COVID-19 Outbreak (NOCPCO).\r\n\r\nBy 6.00 this morning (17), the total number of COVID-19 positive cases reported from Minuwangoda garment factory employees and Peliyagoda Fish Market cluster stands at 14,154. As of this morning (17), 8,381 fully-recovered COVID-19 patients have been discharged from hospitals. 3,106 of them were from the Minuwangoda cluster and all other 11,048 were from Peliyagoda Fish Market cluster.\r\n\r\nUp to yesterday (16), a total of 17,668 persons were confirmed COVID-19 positive from all over the country. 11,805 fully-recovered COVID-19 patients have been so far discharged from hospitals and all other 5,802 are still under treatment in hospitals and care centers.\r\n\r\nTo-date, 61 COVID-19 positive deaths have been reported. Yesterday’s 3 deaths were from Colombo 13, 10, and Moratuwa areas. In the past 24 hours, 311 persons recovered patients have left hospitals.\r\n\r\nAs of this morning (17), the flight EY 264 from Dubai with 26 persons, the flight QR 668 from Doha- Qatar with 37 passengers and the flight UL 218 from Doha- Qatar with 22 passengers have arrived in Colombo. All those passengers were referred to Quarantine Centres (QCs), managed by tri-services upon their arrival after formalities at the airport.\r\n\r\nAs of this morning (17), 3,281 persons in 33 tri service-managed QCs are still in quarantine. Within yesterday (16), 10,713 PCR tests were carried out.
