ARMED FORCES DAY OF BANGLADESH CELEBRATED IN FESTIVITY

The Bangladesh High Commission in Sri Lanka organized a gleeful event to celebrate their 51st Anniversary of the Armed Forces Day on 21 November 2022 evening at the Shangri-La Hotel, Colombo.

Secretary Defence, General Kamal Gunaratne (Retd) WWV RWP RSP USP ndc psc MPhil, attended the event as the chief guest. The Chief of Defence Staff (CDS) and Tri Service Commanders were also invited by Defence Adviser of the People’s Republic of Bangladesh, Commodore M Shafiul Bari, (ND), psc, BN and Dr Farhana Zaman. Accordingly, CDS, General Shavendra Silva along with his spouse Mrs Sujeewa Nelson attended the occasion.

While attending the event, CDS congratulated the High Commissioner, Mr. Tareq Mohammad Ariful Islam and the Defence Adviser of Bangladesh for their 51st Anniversary of Armed Forces Day. During the interaction, CDS thanked for the continuous assistance extended to Sri Lankan Armed Forces over the years and he further stressed the requirement of continuation of strong bilateral bond among the militaries to ensure the reciprocal and regional security.

Commander of the Army, Commander of the Air Force, senior military officers, Ambassadors and defence attaches based in Sri Lanka, officials from the Foreign Ministry and many dignitaries also attended the elegant celebration.
