THE ARMY CHIEF OF STAFF CALLS ON CDS PRIOR TO RETIREMENT

Respecting the traditions, the retiring senior officer Major General Jagath Kodithuwakku RWP RSP ndu who held the appointment of the Chief of Staff of the Sri Lanka Army, the second highest seat at the Army Headquarters paid a courtesy visit to the senior most serving officer General Shavendra Silva WWV RWP RSP VSV USP ndc psc MPhil, the Chief of Defence Staff, (CDS) today (25 November) at his office premises. This senior officer is retiring having completed more than 35 years of committed and dedicated service to the nation.

Major General Jagath Kodithuwakku enlisted in the Sri Lanka Army on 27 October 1986 to the Intake 26 and completed the basic training at the Sri Lanka Military Academy. Being a basic cadet course mate of the incumbent Commander of the Sri Lanka Army, the senior officer also held the appointment of Colonel of the Regiment of Sri Lanka Light Infantry. Also, this brilliant officer has actively contributed to the missions launched to liberate the motherland from the clutches of the ruthless terrorists and has been wounded in this noble cause.

The devoted service of Major General Jagath Kodithuwakku was appreciated during the cordial dialogue and the CDS personally thanked the retiring senior officer who visited along with his family and spoke about the reciprocal assistance shared.

Appreciating the commendable service rendered a memento was presented to Major General Jagath Kodithuwakku. The cordial interaction terminated with the best wishes extended by General Shavendra Silva for a healthy and happy retired life ahead.
