BMICH CELEBRATES ITS GOLDEN JUBILEE

The Bandaranaike Memorial International Conference Hall (BMICH) the iconic installation that hosts the guests allowing the creation of an outstanding setting for a wide range of events and occasions celebrated its 50th Anniversary today (10th May 2023) in an astonishing ceremony at its Main Conference and Concert Hall.

The glamorous evening was graced with the presence of His Excellency the President Ranil Wickremesinghe as the Chief Guest. At the invitation extended by the Chairperson and members of the Board of Management of S W R D Bandaranaike National Memorial Foundation, the Chief of Defence Staff General Shavendra Silva WWV RWP RSP VSV USP ndc psc MPhil attended the occasion.

The event was coloured with a number of events that were performed by the members of the BMICH and reputed artists. Addressing the distinguished invitees, His Excellency the President commended the service of the BMICH and its staff whilst extending gratitude to the government of China for the friendly donation. The former President Mrs Chandrika Bandaranaike also shared her thoughts at this remarkable occasion.

The event was also attended by Honorable Prime Minister Dinesh Gunawardena, many parliamentarians, Diplomats, the Secretary of Defence, Tri- Service Commanders, senior government officials and many distinguished personalities.
