CDS IN JAFFNA WARMS ONE MORE ARMY-BUILT HOME FOR A NEEDY FAMILY

General Shavendra Silva, Chief of Defence Staff, Commander of the Army and Head of the National Operations Centre for Prevention of COVID-19 Outbreak (NOCPCO), now visiting the Jaffna peninsula in order to share New Year greetings with tri service personnel on duty, on the sidelines of the main itinerary, vested an Army-built new house in Grand Bazaar, Jaffna in a deserving family this morning (12).

At the invitation of Major General Priyantha Perera, Commander, Security Forces -Jaffna, the day 's Chief Guest, General Shavendra Silva during a brief ceremony of Hindu rites and rituals handed over the keys of the new Army-erected home to the beneficiary, Mrs. Karunanidhi Jagadishwaran after cutting a ribbon and unveiling a plaque to that effect.

Troops of the Security Force HQ- Jaffna extended their technical, engineering and manpower support to build this new house to this underprivileged family after their plight was brought to the notice of the Commander Security Forces -Jaffna. Financial contribution for the construction was allocated by the Divisional Secretariat in Jaffna on the recommendation of the Grama Seva and Housing authorities.

14 Gajaba Regiment troops provided much-needed manpower for the construction work under the supervision of the Commander, 512 Brigade and completed the house, well in time for the Sinhala and Hindu New Year.

District Secretary, Additional District Secretary - Jaffna, Jaffna Land Officials General Officer Commanding 51 Division, Commanders 511 and 512 Brigades, Senior Officers, Government Officials and troops who contributed to the construction participated in the warming ceremony, conducted in strict adherence to current health guidelines.
