CHIEF OF DEFENCE STAFF ATTENDS INTERNATIONAL CONFERENCE ON AFGHANISTAN IN MOSCOW RUSSIA

Chief of Defence Staff, Air Chief Marshal Kolitha Gunatilleke attended the International Conference on Afghanistan which was held from 07 to 09 October 2015 in Moscow, Russia on an invitation extended by the Chief of the General Staff of the Armed Forces/ First Deputy Minister of Defence of the Russian Federation, General of the Army Valeriy V Gerasimov.\r\n\r\nThe conference was attended by military commanders of fourteen countries, namely Russia, China, India, Pakistan, Afghanistan, Islamic Republic of Iran, Turkey, Belarus, Armenia, Mongolia, Kazakhstan, Tajikistan, Kyrgyz Republic and Sri Lanka. The conference afforded an opportunity to exchange views on the latest developments in the related fields and also strengthened the bonds of friendship and mutual cooperation between participant countries. \r\n\r\nChief of Defence Staff visited the Mine Action Centre at Nahabino to attend a demonstration and presentation organized as part of the conference. \r\n\r\nChief of Defence Staff also had discussions with the Head of Federal Service for Military-Technical Cooperation (FS MTC) and representatives of JSC Rosoboronexport, of the Ministry of Defence Russian Federation.
