CHIEF OF DEFENCE STAFF CHIEF GUEST AT “ROO SITHTHAM 2013”
The grand finale of \"Roo Siththam\" an all island aesthetic competition to promote art among children to commemorate World Children 's Day 2013 was held at the \"Nawa Rangahala\" Colombo 7 on 12th October 2013. Chief of Defence Staff, General Jagath Jayasuriya, attended the awards ceremony as the Chief Guest at the invitation of Mr. Riazal Subian Chairman of the Fashion Bug chain. The competition attracted a tremendous response from Schools Island wide especially the North and East. Over 40,000 entries in several categories were received which were then evaluated by an eminent panel from the University of Visual & Performing Arts Colombo headed by Professor Ramyawardena Podinilame. The winners in each category were awarded Gold, Silver, and Bronze medals, certificates and valuable gift packs.\r\n\r\nThe awards ceremony was preceded by the National Anthem, lighting the traditional oil lamp and observing two minutes silence in remembrance of fallen War Heroes.\r\n
