CHIEF OF DEFENCE STAFF PAYS LAST RESPECT TO FORMER SRI LANKA ARMOURED CORPS COLONEL COMMANDANT

The Chief of Defence Staff, General Shavendra Silva WWV RWP RSP VSV USP ndc psc MPhil paid his last respect to Major General PA Karunatilleke (Retd) RWP today (22 September) at Kurukulawa, Ragama where the remains lie. The late Major General PA Karunatilleke (Retd) RWP of Sri Lanka Armoured Corps (SLAC) passed away on 20 September 2022 at the age of 79.

Chief of Defence Staff conveyed his deepest sympathies to the bereaved family members of the late senior officer. Late Major General Karunatilleke (Retd) RWP owns a reputed and long standing military career in the Sri Lanka Army and had shouldered the national call of duty as the Commander, Task Force 1, Commander, Security Forces - Jaffna and the Deputy Overall Operation Commander. Further, he had also held the appointment of Colonel Commandant, Sri Lanka Armoured Corps.
