CHIEF OF DEFENCE STAFF RECEIVES A DONATION OF MEDICINES FROM THE NAPOLI URBAN COUNCIL, ITALY

The Chief of Defence Staff, General Shavendra Silva WWV RWP RSP VSV USP ndc psc MPhil, in an affable assembly held at his office today (28th September), was donated a bulk of essential medicines.

The bulk of medicines worth of Euro 50,000 equal to twenty million Sri Lankan Rupees was donated by Mr Sentagada, the Napoli Health Minister, on the request made by Mr Jagath Wellawattha, the Ambassador to Sri Lanka in Italy. The donation has been coordinated by Mr Andrea Merlino, the Chairman of Associazione Italiana Di Economia Sanitaria, (AIES) Italy with the mediation of Mr Ravindra Jegan, a Sri Lankan member of Napoli Urban Council.

Mr Prageeth Cruze, the Chairman of Lanka Express Pvt Ltd generously sponsored and coordinated for the consignment to reach Sri Lanka.

Mr R Kokularangan on behalf of the Foreign Ministry and Sri Lanka Embassy in Italy along with Mr Ravishan Pitiyegedara and Ranuk Fernandopulle, the Managers of Lanka Express Pvt Ltd attended the charm handing over ceremony undertook at the Office of the Chief of Defence Staff.

In line with the welfare and well-being concept of General Shavendra Silva, the bulk of medicines are to be donated to needy medical establishments in due course.
