CHIEF OF DEFENCE STAFF VISITS THE PRIME MINISTER

General Shavendra Silva WWV RWP RSP VSV USP ndc psc MPhil, upon assuming his new office as the Chief of Defence Staff, paid a courtesy call on honourable Prime Minister, Ranil Wickremesinghe at his office on 10 June 2022.

During the courtesy call, the premier commended the visionary decision making and pensively action of the General Shavendra Silva during the recent turbulent situation and mentioned that his swift and thoughtful action to control the situation prevented a substantial crisis that could have happened in the country.

In addition, the premier extended best wishes on his new appointment while praising the put forth efforts of Tri Services to support the nation and its citizenry. Towards the ensued dialogue, Mr Wickremesinghe stressed the importance of continuous commitment of defence forces to overcome the current situation.
