CHIEF OF DEFENCE STAFF VISITS SECURITY FORCE HEADQUARTERS JAFFNA
The Chief of Defence Staff, Air Chief Marshal Kolitha Gunatilleke visited the Security Forces Headquarters Jaffna (SFHQ - J) on 25 September 2015 and was received by Major General Nandana Udawatta, Security Forces Commander Jaffna and a Street Lining was accorded to the Chief of Defence Staff on arrival at the SLAF Station Palaly. Proceedings replete with Guard of Honour at Security Force Headquarters Jaffna added military tradition to the reception.
Subsequently, the Chief of Defence Staff planted a tree sapling at the Security Force Headquarters Jaffna.
The Chief of Defence Staff was briefed on Security Force deployment in the North, Civil-Military cooperation, security matters and current state-of-affairs in the region by the Commander SFHQ-Jaffna. This was followed by the briefings conducted by Commander Northern Naval Area, Rear Admiral KKVPH De Silva and Acting Commanding Officer Sri Lanka Air Force Station Palaly Wing Commander HMC Herath on their respective deployments.
General Officer Commanding 51 Division, Major General CP Gallage, General Officer Commanding 52 Division, Major General PWB Jayasundara, General Officer Commanding 55 Division, Brigadier NA Dharmaratne and senior Tri Forces officers were also present at the occasion.
Major General Nandana Udawatta presented a memento to mark the occasion which was reciprocated by the Chief of Defence Staff.
