CHIEF OF DEFENCE STAFF VISITS SECURITY FORCE HEADQUARTERS KILINOCHCHI
The Chief of Defence Staff, Air Chief Marshal Kolitha Gunatilleke visited the Security Forces Headquarters Kilinochchi (SFHQ - KLN) on 04th March 2016 and was received by Major General Amal Karunasekara, Security Forces Commander Kilinochchi on arrival. Proceedings replete with Guard of Honour at Security Force Headquarters Kilinochchi added military tradition to the reception. The Chief of Defence Staff planted a tree sapling at the Security Force Headquarters Kilinochchi.
The Chief of Defence Staff was briefed on Security Force deployment in Kilinochchi, Civil-Military cooperation, security matters and current state-of-affairs in the region by the Commander SFHQ-KLN. This was followed by the briefings conducted by Commanding Officer Sri Lanka Naval Ship Welusumana, Captain KMGNC Nawaratne, Commanding Officer Sri Lanka Naval Ship Buwaneka, Commander AIP De Silva and Commanding Officer Sri Lanka Air Force Station Iranamadu Wing Commander MPA Galappaththi on their respective deployments.
This was followed by a visit to Harmony Centre Kilinochchi which is maintained and managed by the SFHQ Kilinochchi with a vision to build a resilient Sri Lankan Nation by creating a harmony of living through social, ethnic, cultural and religious engagements as a part of National Reconciliation Process.
General Officer Commanding 57 Division, Brigadier WAVA Sudasinghe, General Officer Commanding 65 Division, Brigadier WAS Weerawardena, General Officer Commanding 66 Division, Brigadier GWDK Jayathilleke and senior Tri Forces officers were also present at the occasion.
Major General Amal Karunasekara presented a memento to mark the occasion which was reciprocated by the Chief of Defence Staff.
