COMMISSIONING PARADE OF SLMA BESTOWS YOUNG OFFICERS TO THE NATION

Strengthening the security of Sri Lanka and to ensure the territorial integrity of our beloved motherland, 359 officer cadets of the Sri Lanka Military Academy, Diyatalawa passed out at a majestic parade presented to His Excellency the President Ranil Wickremasinghe on 17th December 2022 at the Academy Parade Ground.

The officer cadets who successfully completed their basic military studies under Regular Intake 91, Intake 91 Bravo, Intake SC 19, Volunteer Intake 61, Intake 61 A, Regular Lady Intake 19 and Volunteer Lady Intake 18 received the Presidential Commission from His Excellency the President of the Democratic Socialist Republic of Sri Lanka. The swords at a commissioning parade were awarded to the commissioning cadets symbolising the Presidential Commission as well as the awarding of the rank implying the nobleness of the profession of arms.

State Minister of Defence Hon Premitha Bandara Tennakoon, Advisor to the President, Hon Sagala Rathnayake, Secretary of the Ministry of Defence General Kamal Gunaratne (Retd) WWV RWP RSP USP ndc psc MPhil, Chief of Defence Staff General Shavendra Silva WWV RWP RSP VSV USP ndc psc MPhil, Commander of the Army, past Commandants of SLMA, Defence Attaches, and many more Army senior officers were among the special invitees of the event along with parents and relatives of the passing out cadets.

The days ceremony culminated with the traditional commissioning dinner hosted for the freshly joined members of the Sri Lanka Army. His Excellency the President of the Democratic Socialist Republic of Sri Lanka graced this military banquet as the Chief Guest.
