DELEGATION OF THE GENEVA CENTRE FOR SECURITY POLICY (GCSP) CALLS ON CHIEF OF DEFENCE STAFF

A Swiss delegation headed by Mr. Christian Buhlmann, Director of Regional Programme of the Geneva Centre for Security Policy (GCSP) Switzerland, called on the Chief of Defence Staff, Air Chief Marshal Kolitha Gunatilleke at the Office of Chief of Defence Staff on 10th March 2016. \r\n\r\nThe delegation is in Colombo for the preliminary arrangements of forthcoming orientation module for new Defence Attache 's and Civil Servants involved in International Relations of SAARC and ASEAN countries. The programme is scheduled to be held in Sri Lanka at the end of year 2016.\r\n\r\nDuring the cordial discussion, Chief of Defence Staff expressed his deepest gratitude to GCSP for this initiative, which would immensely benefited Sri Lanka and regional countries. The programme would avail opportunities to train Military Officers, Diplomats and Senior Officials involved in Defence and Diplomacy, in the field of international security which will enhance the fulfilment of their respective missions.\r\n\r\nThis was followed by a discussion of the delegation with Director General General Staff of OCDS, Major General Ajith Kariyakarawana to finalize arrangements. Subsequently, the visiting delegation paid a visit to the Bandaranayake International Diplomatic Training Institute (BIDTI) and had a discussion with Director General Mrs. Pamela J Deen.\r\n\r\nThe delegation led by Mr. Christian Buhlmann comprises Mr. Thierry Randon, Course Coordinator of the Regional Programme of the GCSP Switzerland, Colonel General Staff (GS), Christof Gertsch, Defence Attache ' to the Embassy of Switzerland to Sri Lanka and resides in New Delhi, Colonel Urs AMIET, Head of Defence and Diplomacy Cluster, Regular Officer seconded by the Swiss Armed Forces.\r\n
