A DELEGATION OF RUSSIAN COUNTER TERRORISM EXPERTS CALLS ON CDS

As an outcome of the meeting held between the Chief of Defence Staff, Admiral Ravindra C. Wijegunaratne and the Chief of the General Staff of the Armed Forces of Russian Federation, General Valery Gerasimov on 26th June in Moscow, a five member delegation of Russian Counter Terrorism experts arrived in Sri Lanka today (02nd December) to share their knowledge and experience with the Sri Lankan Military personnel on countering IS terrorism in Syria .

The delegation headed by Major General Andrei Ilinykh paid a courtesy call on the Chief of Defence Staff, today at the Office of the Chief of Defence Staff.

A cordial discussion was held on matters of mutual interest with a special emphasis on training.

Mementos were also exchanged on the occasion as a gesture of goodwill.
