GENERAL SHAVENDRA SILVA TALKS ON "DEALING WITH THE DYNAMICS OF THE CONFLICTS"

The Association of Retired Flag Rank Officers (ARFRO) in Sri Lanka that came into being in 1996 organized the 8th Oration of General Deshamanya Denis Perera on 25th November 2022 at the auditorium of the General Sir John Kotelawala Defence University.

At the cordial invitation extended by the Executive Committee of the association, General Shavendra Silva WWV RWP RSP VSV USP ndc psc MPhil, Chief of Defence Staff (CDS), graced the occasion as the chief guest of the occasion where he was warmly welcomed by respecting the long-rooted traditions of the Armed Forces.

The CDS delivering his insights on the title 'Dealing with the Dynamics of the Conflicts' emphasised the fact that the challenges we foresee are much different from the challenges we experienced in the past. Further, being located in a geographically strategic location, Sri Lanka has been in the limelight of many superpowers of the world and will remain so in the future too. Hence, General Shavendra Silva delivering the oration highlighted to be ready for the future uncertainties where these types of discussion are exemplary. Further, the experience and mentorship of the veterans are always an added advantage to any military that come in handy in times of need.

The event that was attended by former tri-service commanders, members of the association, Vice Chancellor of the General Sir John Kotelawala Defence University, number of serving senior tri-forces officers, and members of diplomatic corps culminated with the vote of thanks delivered by Major General Upul Perera (Retd) USP MBA MSc PGD CPS FIM FIAE FIMI.
