INDIAN CHIEF OF THE NAVAL STAFF CALLS ON CDS

Chief of Naval Staff of the Indian Navy, Admiral Karambir Singh, PVSM, AVSM, ADC, paid a courtesy call on the Chief of Defence Staff, Admiral Ravindra C. Wijegunaratne this morning (20th December, 2019) while on a four day official visit in Sri Lanka.\r\n\r\nA cordial discussion was held between to the two officials on matters of bilateral interests particularly on the maritime sphere. Mementos were also exchanged signifying the occasion. \r\n\r\nAdmiral Karambir Singh is a Naval aviator and an alumnus at the National Defence Academy, Khadakwasala. Commissioned in 1980, his unblemished career spans over 39 years. Adm Karambir Singh has held many operational and staff appointments including Director General Project Seabird, in-charge of infrastructure development of the Navy�s expensive and modern base at Karwar. At the Integrated Headquarters Ministry of Defence (Navy), the Admiral has been the Deputy Chief of Naval Staff and, subsequently, the Vice Chief of Naval Staff. He was the Flag Officer Commanding-in-Chief, Eastern Naval Command at Vishakapatnam, prior taking over helm as the Chief of the Naval Staff on 31st May 2019. Admiral Karambir Singh is also a recipient of the prestigious Ati-Vishishta-Seva Medal (AVSM) awarded by the Hon. President of India.
