ITALIAN AMBASSADOR CALLS ON GENERAL SHAVENDRA SILVA

The Ambassador of Italy for Sri Lanka and Maldives, Her Excellency (Mrs) Rita Giuliana Mannella made a courtesy call on the Chief of Defence Staff, General Shavendra Silva WWV RWP RSP VSV USP ndc psc MPhil at his office today (16th March 2023).

The warm reception and discussion took place based on the existing bilateral defence ties ensured to make more training opportunities and joint exercises available for the members of the armed forces of the two nations. The discussion also provided an opportunity to discuss on the corporation in the field of cyber security.

Along with the Ambassador, a delegation comprised of the Deputy Head of Mission, Embassy of Italy, Dr Francesco Perale, and Military Attaché at the Embassy of Italy based in New Delhi and accredited to Sri Lanka, Captain Fabio Cima visited General Shavendra Silva.

Towards the end of the meeting, the CDS presented token of mementoes to Her Excellency (Mrs) Rita Giuliana Mannella the Ambassador of Italy for Sri Lanka and Maldives, and members of the visiting delegation. The cordial meeting was culminated with the signing of the visitors’ book by the Ambassador to mark the event.
