NOCPCO HEAD DISCUSSES HEALTH ISSUES & OPERATIONAL MATTERS WITH SRI LANKAN AIRLINES OFFICIALS

A discussion that would help streamline the existing procedures as regards the transport of Sri Lankan Airlines cabin crew, quarantining of the air crew and a few other operational matters took place on Monday (1) at the Army HQ, led by General Shavendra Silva, Chief of Defence Staff, Commander of the Army and Head of the National Operations Centre for Prevention of COVID-19 Outbreak (NOCPCO).

Mr. Vipula Gunatilleka, Group Chief Executive Officer at Sri Lankan Airlines, Dimuthu Tennakoon, Head of Worldwide Sales & Distribution, Ms Buddhika Manage, Group Head of Human Resources and Cabin Services, Capt Pravin Wettimuny, Head of Flight Operations.

Dr Anomi Jayasinghe, Group Medical Officer and Air Vice Marshal (Retd) Ajantha Silva, Group Procurement Consultant (Airline & Catering) of Sri Lankan Airlines participated in the discussion, together with Dr Sudath Samaraweera, Chief Epidemiologist, Dr Samitha Ginige, Deputy Chief Epidemiologist and the Coordinator for COVID-19 National Vaccination Programme and Brigadier Chandana Arangalla, Brigadier Coordinator at the NOCPCO.

The discussion also focused on possibilities of further strengthening of precautionary and preventive measures in regard to service shifts, etc in the wake of the fast return of normal operations at the airport and capacity for conduct of health precautions among passengers using the Sri Lankan Airlines.
