PRESIDENT OATHS TO ENSURE LAW AND ORDER IN THE COUNTRY AT THE AIR FORCE BASE – ANURADHAPURA

His Excellency the President Ranil Wickremesinghe delivered a special address to the Tri-Forces and Police personalities at the Air Force Base, Anuradhapura today evening (01 April 2023).

On arrival of the President to the Air Force Base Anuradhapura, the Commander of the Sri Lanka Air Force warmly welcomed the head of the state to the Air Force Base and His Excellency the President Ranil Wickremesinghe was awarded a ceremonial reception by the Air Force Troops, Anuradhapura.

During the address delivered to the gathering comprised of the Senior Officers, Officers, and Other Ranks of the security forces of the nation, the President expressed his gratitude for the service rendered to protect the Parliament from being taken over by violent protesters which could have put the nation into anarchy. He further elaborated that any breach of law and order in the country will not be tolerated during his tenure as the Head of State.

President Wickremesinghe, addressing the gathering, also stated that he will not hesitate to implement strict laws to combat the drug trafficking. The President stated that the Law and Order and the Justice Ministers have been instructed to take immediate actions against drug offenders without leniency. The President also spared time to interact with the Tri-Forces and Police personalities who participated in the address.

The Chief of Defence Staff, General Shavendra Silva WWV RWP RSP VSV USP ndc psc MPhil also attended this event where he could also share his time with the gathering.

The National Security Advisor to the President Mr Sagala Ratnayaka, the State Minister of Defence of Sri Lanka, Hon Premitha Bandara Tennakoon, Secretary of Defence, Commanders of Sri Lanka Army, Navy and Air Force, and Inspector General of Police has also attended the address.
