His Excellency the President, the Minister of Defence and the Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces of Sri Lanka, Anura Kumara Dissanayake paid his inaugural visit to the Ministry of Defence at the Defence Headquarters Complex this morning (22 November).
The Deputy Minister of Defence, Major General (Retd) Aruna Jayasekara WWV RSP VSV USP ndc psc and the Secretary to the Ministry of Defence Air Vice Marshal Sampath Thuyacontha (Retd) WWV, RWP and two Bars, RSP and Bar, USP, MMSc (Strat Stu-China), MSc (Def Stu) in Mgt, MSc (Def & Strat Stu), fndu (China), psc, received the President on arrival to the ministry premises.
Then, the Chief of Defence Staff (CDS), General Shavendra Silva WWV RWP RSP VSV USP ndc psc MPhil, along with the Tri-services Commanders honoured the President and conducted him to the saluting dais where he was presented a guard of honour by the Tri-services troops.
After receiving the military honours the President held a discussion with the Deputy Minister, the Secretary, the CDS, the Tri-services Commanders and the senior staff officers of the Ministry. Then, the President addressed the Ministry Staff before the simple ceremony came to a close.
