THE PROGRESS OF NATIONAL SPORTS REVIEWS

A conference was held at the National Sports Council Conference Hall yesterday (30 January 2023) to review the progress and to discuss the issues that the national sports experience currently.

The meeting, headed by the Minister of Sports and Youth Affairs, Hon Roshan Ranasinghe was attended by all the members of the National Sports Council and National Sports Selection Committee. During the meeting, the progress and the drawbacks that the national sports have experienced during the recent past were lengthily discussed. Further, the challenges and difficulties the sportsmen and sportswomen face especially with the present situations in the country were also discussed. A number of important decisions were made for the betterment of the national sports in the country.

The Chief of Defence Staff and Chairman of the National Sports Selection Committee General Shavendra Silva WWV RWP RSP VSV USP ndc psc MPhil attended the meeting and expressed his views and suggestions to the gathering. The meeting was also attended by the secretary of the Ministry of Sports, Senior Sports Advisor, members of the National Sports Selection Committee, and members of the National Sports Council including Tri-Service Commanders.
