"RANAVIRU SUWANDA" AWARDING CEREMONY HELD

"Ranaviru Suwanda\" - awarding ceremony, organized by the Ranaviru Seva Authority (RSA) was held at the ";Nelum Pokuna\" Mahinda Rajapaksa Theatre in Colombo today (27th May).

The 11th segment of the event was held successfully during the Ranaviru month under the patronage of the chairperson of Ministry of Defence Seva Vanitha Unit (MoDSVU) Mrs. Ioma Rajapaksa. At the outset the welcome address was delivered by the RSA chairperson Mrs. Padma Weththewa and the keynote speech was delivered by Prof. Praneeth Abeysundara. During the ceremony a large number of tri-forces and police personnel and their family members were honoured with awards and certificates for the outstanding talents that they excelled. Accordingly 156 awardees for year 2012 and 163 awardees for year 2013 received the honour. Awards were given to those who had outperformed in dancing, singing, painting, writing competitions etc, and they had been selected screening via respective Seva Vanitha Units of armed forces. Children of the War Heroes together with their family members staged talent shows adding more elegant to the function. Additional Secretary (Defence) Mr. S. Hettiarachchi, Military Liaison Officer and former Chairperson Major General (Rtd) Palitha Fernando, Vice President of MoDSVU Mrs. Indu Rathnayaka, SVU Chairpersons of tri-forces, police and high ranking military officials were present at the event.
