‘STORY OF THE WORLD’ LAUNCHED

The book titled’ Story of the World Geopolitical Alliances and Rivalries Set in Stone’ authored by Colonel Nalin Herath RSP, the Director Media, Ministry of Defence was ceremonially launched at the Officers’ Mess Banquet Hall, Rock House Army Camp, Colombo yesterday evening (12 January 2023).

The event that was graced by the State Minister of Defence, Hon Premitha Bandara Thennakoon as the Chief Guest was honoured by the presence of the Secretary to the Ministry of Defence, General Kamal Gunaratne (Retd) WWV RWP RSP USP ndc psc MPhil as the Guest of Honour. The Chief of Defence Staff, General Shavendra Silva WWV RWP RSP VSV USP ndc psc MPhil also attended the event as a special invitee at the cordial invitation extended by the M D Gunasena & Co (Pvt) Ltd and the author himself.

The keynote address of the event was delivered by Dr Harinda Vidanage whilst Brigadier Sri Mudannayake (Retd) RWP USP psc shared his thoughts on ‘The Author and Review of the Book’. The Secretary to the Ministry of Defence voiced his thoughts with the distinguished gathering and wished the author to continue his good work in the future too.

Addressing the distinguished gathering, the chief guest of the event, Hon Premitha Bandara Thennakoon emphasized the importance of military professionalism and the knowledge on international affairs. He further commented on the contemporary value of this book to the society and the young generations in particular. Speaking further, he encouraged the habit of writing and invited the officers to share the wealth of knowledge and experience they have to share with the new generation as it will be a worthy investment for generations to come. An e-version of the book was also launched in parallel to the launching of the book ceremonially by the Chief Guest of the event.

The Chief of Defence Staff congratulated the author for his endeavour and encouraged him for his future publications.

Towards the end of the event, the author of the book, Colonel Nalin Herath extended his gratitude to the distinguished invitees, audience and the people who encouraged and helped him to see the success. The day’s ceremony was culminated with the refreshments arranged.

The ceremony was also attended by the Commandant of the NDC College, Chief of National Intelligence, Director General of Civil Security Department, Chief of Staffs of Sri Lanka Army and Air Force, Managing Director of M D Gunasena & Company (Pvt) Ltd many retired and serving senior officers of Tri-Services, and relations and close associates of the author.
