    The second round of the annual Armed Forces Staff Talks between Sri Lanka and Pakistan commenced on 6 May 2014 at the Joint Staff Headquarters in Pakistan.

  • CHIEF OF DEFENCE STAFF ATTENDS 'DEFENCE SEMINAR - 2015 '

    Chief of Defence Staff, Air Chief Marshal Kolitha Gunatilleke and other senior officers at OCDS attended the International Defence Conference, 'Defence Seminar - 2015 ' which was held in Colombo on 01st and 02nd September 2015 under the theme of 'National Security in the Context of Emerging Global Threats '. Sri Lanka Army has organised this Seminar for the fifth time and 66 foreign delegates participated at the event. At the official reception, the Chief of Defence Staff presented mementos to the participants.

  • CAPACITY BUILDING SESSION - ADVANCE PROGRAMME 1/2016

    The first Capacity Building Session - Advance Programme for the year 2016 planed by Sri Lanka Foundation under the guidance of the Office of the Chief of Defence Staff (OCDS) was successfully conducted from 28th March to 01st April 2016 at the Auditorium at RHQ SLAC. Thirty senior officers from the Tri services in the rank of Lieutenant Colonel equivalent participated at the workshop.

  • WORKSHOP ON LEADERSHIP FOR TRI-SERVICE OFFICERS

    The Brain child of The Office of the Chief of Defence Staff, in collaboration with the International Institute of Human Resource Management (IIHRM) conducted a five-day workshop on Value to Current Leadership Practices in the Military from 24th to 28th March 2014. The workshop was held at Regimental Headquarters of the Sri Lanka Armoured Corps, Rock House Camp, Mutwal.

  • STATE MINISTER VISITS TRINCOMALEE NAVAL INSTALLATION

    During his visit to the Eastern region the Sate Minster of Defence Hon. Ruwan Wijewardene visited the Sri Lanka Navy installation in Trincomalee on the 08th (February 2015). The Minster was accompanied by the Chief of Defence Staff and the tri forces Commanders. Upon arriving at the naval facility the Minister was received by the Commander of the Eastern Naval Area Rear Admiral PADR Perera. The Minister was also accorded a Guard of Honour by the naval troops. During his visit to the naval dockyard, he boarded naval vessel SLNS Sagara for inspection. He also visited other facilities at the sprawling naval camp. The Commander of the Navy Vice Admiral Jayantha Perera presented the Minister a plaque as a memento to mark his visit to the naval camp. Minister Wijewardene also signed the visitor 's book there. Later he planted a tree sapling at the Navy House. He also took a boat ride around the naval facility for further inspection.
