HIGH COMMISSION OF PAKISTAN IN SRI LANKA CELEBRATES NATIONAL DAY WITH GRANDEUR

The High Commission of the Islamic Republic of Pakistan in Sri Lanka marked the 83rd National Day of Pakistan with fervour and enthusiasm at the Bandaranaike Memorial International Conference Hall (BMICH), Colombo yesterday (25 April).

Pakistan’s envoy in Colombo, Major General (R) Faheem Ul Aziz, HI (M), presided over the ceremony, reflecting on the enduring friendship and cooperation shared between Pakistan and Sri Lanka.

The presence of Hon Minister of Ports, Shipping and Aviation Nimal Siripala de Silva as the Chief Guest added significance to the occasion, underscoring the importance both countries attach to their relationship.

The Chief of Defence Staff (CDS), General Shavendra Silva WWV RWP RSP VSV USP ndc psc MPhil, and his spouse, Mrs. Sujeewa Nelson, who were honoured to attend the event upon the invitation of His Excellency the Pakistan High Commissioner in Colombo, Major General (R) Faheem Ul Aziz, were warmly welcomed upon their arrival.

During the proceedings, the Pakistan High Commissioner reiterated the significance of the longstanding bilateral ties, unique friendships maintained over the years, and engagements that have strengthened the bond between the two nations.

Amidst the cordial discussions, General Shavendra Silva took a moment to express his sincere congratulations to the High Commissioner and the dedicated staff on the occasion of their National Day. Further, he underscored the profound camaraderie and enduring bonds between the armed forces of the two nations, highlighting the depth of their mutual respect and cooperation.

The vibrant atmosphere of the event was graced by the esteemed presence of dignitaries, including the Honourable Opposition Leader, the Speaker of the Parliament, Ministers, parliamentarians, diplomats, and Tri-Service Commanders, among other distinguished guests. Their attendance beautifully highlighted the profound friendship and cooperation between Pakistan and Sri Lanka, spanning across various sectors.
