52ND ANNIVERSARY OF THE INDEPENDENCE AND NATIONAL DAY OF BANGLADESH

Bangladesh celebrates its 52nd anniversary of Independence and National Day following the victory gained in 1971 over the nine-month long war and the supreme sacrifices of more than three million people.

The High Commission for Bangladesh to Sri Lanka, Colombo today celebrated their 52nd anniversary at a charming ceremony hosted at the Shangri-La Hotel, Colombo. Hon Minister Susil Premajayantha the Minister of Education attended the special evening as the chief guest.

The Chief of Defence Staff, General Shavendra Silva WWV RWP RSP VSV USP ndc psc MPhil, attended the ceremony at the invitation of the High Commissioner for the People’s Republic of Bangladesh to Sri Lanka, His Excellency Tareq Md Ariful Islam together with Mrs Aliya Najma Nur. The CDS conveyed warm wishes to the High Commissioner and congratulated on the special occasion.

The Secretary Defence, Tri-Service Commanders, diplomats, politicians and many high-profile dignitaries attended the event.
