ADMIRAL RAVINDRA WIJEGUNARATNE CHIEF GUEST AT THE 10TH DEFENCE SERVICES GAMES – 2018
The Chief of Defence Staff (CDS) Admiral Ravindra C. Wijegunaratne declared opened the ‘10th Defence Services Games(DSG) -2018 ' hosted by the Sri Lanka Army, yesterday (03rd April, 2018) at the Indoor sports Stadium in the Panagoda Army cantonment.
Admiral Ravindra C Wijegunaratne was received by the Commander of the Army, Lieutenant General Mahesh Senanayake, Commander of the Air Force, Air Marshal Kapila Jayampathy and the Chief of Staff of the Navy, Rear Admiral Neil Rosayro.
Chairman to the Games Committee and Chief of Staff of the Army, Major General Dampath Fernando were also present at the occasion.
Major General Dampath Fernando, Chief of Staff of the Army and Chairman to the Games Committee, DSG - 2018 delivered the welcome remarks followed by the official declaration of the commencement of the Defence Services Games - 2018 by the Chief Guest.
The Defence Services Games (DSG) is held every two years since its inauguration in 2003. Athletes from tri services are to take part in thirty eight (38) sports events which is to culminate in the end of August in a grand scale. This year 's games would witness the introduction of Motor Racing as a separate event.
Army Chief Field Engineer Maj Gen. Dudly Weerman and Dirctor General Army Sports Maj Gen. Harsha Subasinghe were also present at the occasion.
