ARMY DEPUTY CHIEF OF STAFF CALLS ON CDS

The Deputy Chief of Staff (DCOS) of the Sri Lanka Army, Major General Champaka Ranasinghe RWP RSP of the Gajaba Regiment called on the Chief of Defence Staff General Shavendra Silva WWV RWP RSP VSV USP ndc psc prior to his retirement at the Office of the Chief of Defence Staff (OCDS) morning on 25 Oct 23.

On the arrival, General Shavendra Silva warmly welcomed the retiring senior officer to the office. During the affable meeting, the CDS appreciated the dedicated services rendered by the retiring senior officer. As a senior officer in the Gajaba family, the CDS recalled the past experiences both in the battlefront and even later where the commitment was to the nation building. The CDS specially commended the bravery of the senior officer displayed on the battlefront as an Infantry Officer and stated that these qualities make the Keterians special from the others.

As the cordial dialogues went on, General Shavendra Silva also appreciated the commitment of the retiring senior officer to the development and betterment of the Sri Lanka Women’s Corps during his tenure as the Colonel Commandant. The leadership and command of Major General Champaka Ranasinghe were appreciated particularly as the Commander Security Forces (Wanni) for nearly 2 years. The commitment and contribution of the family members of the retiring senior officer was also respectfully recalled by General Shavendra Silva during the call on.

Thanking the CDS for his time and opportunity, Major General Champaka Ranasinghe expressed his special gratitude for the guidance and mentorship of the CDS that extended throughout his military career. The retiring senior officer who has completed over 36 years of service in the Sri Lanka Army further stated that the leadership of the CDS was an example for him to practice and enhance the command abilities in the Army. Major General Champaka Ranasinghe also paid his gratitude to General Shavendra Silva for the trust and confidence he had in the retiring senior officer till the final day in the service.

Towards the end of the call on, General Shavendra Silva wished the outgoing senior officer a successful retired life and conveyed his wishes to the family as well. The call on culminated with the handing over of a memento to the retiring officer.
