BANDARANAIKE MEMORIAL CANCER HOME IS REFURBISHED

The Bandaranaike Memorial Cancer Home, Maharagama which was refurbished under the guidance and benevolence of General Shavendra Silva WWV RWP RSP VSV USP ndc psc MPhil, was ceremonially handed over to the Bandaranaike Memorial Cancer Home Committee this morning (15 September 2023.)

With the initiative of General Shavendra Silva, the Bandaranaike Memorial Cancer Home was refurbished with the contribution of the Sri Lanka Army and Cancer Home Committee. This was funded by Dr Suku Nagendran USA and coordinated by Mr Senaka Senaviratne who is a resident of New Jersey, USA. The refurbished wards consist of the necessary requirements to serve the accommodation needs of the patients who are visiting the hospital for treatments from distant cities.

In line with the ceremony, essential gift parcels to the patients were donated by Mrs Sujeewa Nelson, the President of the Seva Vanitha Branch of Office of the Chief of Defence Staff (OCDS). Further, the cancer hospital was also gifted with essential items during the ceremony. The President of the OCDS Seva Vanitha Branch assured her continued assistance whenever necessary.

The ceremony was also attended by the Chairperson of the Cancer Society Sri Lanka Ms Anoja Karunaratne, President Mr Padmasiri Mannakkara, and the Chairperson of the Bandaranaike Memorial Cancer Home Committee Ms Enoka de Silva along with its members including Ms Kshenuka Senevirathne. Staff of the OCDS, Army Troops who were involved in the renovation, hospital staff, and members of the societies were present at the charm ceremony.
