CDS GRACES THE SEMINAR ON INDIA-SRI LANKA DEFENCE CO-OPERATION

A Seminar themed ‘India – Sri Lanka Defence Co-operation: Identifying New Opportunities and Forging New Bonds’ was meticulously organized by the High Commission of India at Hotel Taj Samudra in Colombo this morning (10 April). The purpose of the seminar was to explore new ways for cooperation between India and Sri Lanka to enhance the capability development of Sri Lanka's Armed Forces.

General Shavendra Silva WWV RWP RSP VSV USP ndc psc MPhil, the Chief of Defence Staff (CDS), attended the seminar at the invitation extended by His Excellency Santosh Jha, the High Commissioner of India, and was warmly welcomed to the event.

The State Minister of Defence, Honorable Premitha Bandara Tennakoon, honoured the occasion as the chief guest, adding a significant presence and distinguished perspective to the event.

The seminar served as a platform to provide an extensive understanding and exposure to the hierarchy of the Sri Lankan Armed Forces, as well as local entrepreneurs, regarding the sophisticated and multifaceted capabilities present within India's defence manufacturing sector. Through interactive sessions and presentations, participants gained insights into the latest advancements and potential areas of collaboration in Indian defence technology and equipment.

During the event, the CDS congratulated the High Commissioner and the members of the Indian High Commission in Sri Lanka on the successful conduct of the seminar. He commended the initiative and highlighted the importance of such endeavours in enhancing the capabilities of the defence forces of both countries.

The seminar attracted a diverse array of attendees, including distinguished individuals such as the Commanders of the Navy and Air Force, Chief of Staff of the Army, senior officers from tri-services, government officials, entrepreneurs from both India and Sri Lanka, and a distinguished group of invitees.
