CDS PAID LAST RESPECTS TO MOST VEN DODAMPAHALA CHANDRASIRI MAHANAYAKE THERO

The Chief of Defence Staff (CDS) General Shavendra Silva WWV RWP RSP VSV USP ndc psc MPhil paid his last respects to the Chief Prelate of the Amarapura Maha Nikaya, Most Venerable Dodampahala Chandrasiri Thero today (18 May 2023) at Gothama Thapowanaya in Kalapaluwawa.

Along with the CDS, the National Security Advisor to the President, Mr Sagala Ratnayaka also paid his last respect to the Mahanayaka Thero who passed away at the age of 84. Mr Sagala Ratnayaka also conveyed the instructions of His Excellency the President to direct the Armed Force for the relevant formalities of the cremation ceremony of Most Venerable Dodampahala Chandrasiri Thero that will be held with full state honours at 1500hr on Sunday at Independence Square, Colombo.
