CDS TAKES PART IN CORNERSTONE LAYING CEREMONY AT SRI JINARATHANARAMA TEMPLE, HOROWPATHANA

Sri Jinarathanarama Temple, Ihaladiwulwewa, Horowpathana organized a charm ceremony to lay the cornerstone for the new pagoda of the temple on 21 September 2023.

Chief of Defence Staff, General Shavendra Silva WWV RWP RSP VSV USP ndc psc MPhil, invited by Venerable Gomarankadawala Hemarathana Thero and Venerable Ihaladiulwewa Vimalawansha Thero, participated in the traditional ceremony at the auspicious occasion by laying the foundation stone as the chief guest.

The upcoming new Pagoda, symbolizing spirituality and unity, holds great significance for the temple and its devotees. As the cornerstone was laid at an auspicious moment, it marked the commencement of a project that will promote spirituality, cultural heritage, and unity in the area.

General Shavendra Silva's presence along with his spouse Mrs Sujeewa Nelson marked the continuation of the assistance extended to the religion and Buddha Sasana in the country.

The event was graced by the presence of many Venerable Theroes, who added a spiritual essence to the proceedings. Also, Major General Dinesh Nanayakkara RSP VSV USP ndu Security Forces Commander (Wanni), Major General Buddika Perera RWP USP ndu psc General Officer Commanding 21 Division, Senior DIG (North Central), Chairman ‘Derena’ Media Network Mr Dilith Jayaweera, Veteran Actor and former Parliamentarian Mr Jeevan Kumarathunga, regional government officials, generous entrepreneurs, a multitude of distinguished invitees, and devotees also attended, demonstrating the widespread respect and support for the religious endeavours.
