Chief of Defence Staff (CDS) Admiral Ravindra C. Wijegunaratne left the Island today (10th September) to attend the 208th Independence Commemoration Ceremony of United Mexican States representing Sri Lanka from 10 to 17 September 2018, on the invitation of Defence Minister of Mexico, General Salvador Cienfuegos Zepeda.\r\n\r\nThe 208th Independence Day is celebrated on 16th of September with an array of cultural events and a military parade graced by His Excellency Enrique Pena Nieto, the President of the United Mexican States and Supreme Commander of the Armed Forces.\r\n\r\nChief of Defence Staff (CDS) will meet Defence Minister of Mexico General Salvador Cienfuegos Zepeda and bilateral discussions will be held on the matters concerned to the defence and security sectors during his visit.
