CHIEF OF DEFENCE STAFF GENERAL SHAVENDRA SILVA WITNESSED THE TRAINING FACILITES OF INDIAN MILITARY ACADEMY

The day prior to the Passing Out Parade at the Indian Military Academy (IMA) in Dehradun, General Shavendra Silva WWV RWP RSP VSV USP ndc psc MPhil, the Sri Lankan Chief of Defence Staff (CDS), in his arrival the Commandant of IMA, Lieutenant General Vijay Kumar Mishra AVSM conducted a briefing about IMA with the presence of General Officer Commandingin-Chief of Indian Army’s Western Command, Lieutenant General Manoj Kumar Katiyar AVSM. Thereafter, the commandant IMA requested CDS to observe the training facilities and extracurricular amenities at IMA, including the library, swimming facilities, sports grounds, and club activities. During the visit, the CDS expressed admiration for the state-of-the-art facilities and the wellorganized training schedules implemented at IMA.

Similarly, General Shavendra Silva, accompanied by his spouse with a show of solidarity and compassion, participated in a welfare event that was held in remembrance of and to mark the 2nd death anniversary of the passing of the former Chief of Defence Staff, India late General Bipin Rawat PVSM UYSM AVSM YSM SM VSM ADC, who met a tragic end in a helicopter crash in December 2021.

General Shavendra Silva distributed dry ration and necessary commodities to the povertystricken community in Dehradun. This act of benevolence not only highlighted the commitment of military leaders to the well-being of the citizens but also served as a testimony to the enduring bonds of friendship and mutual respect between the armed forces of India and Sri Lanka.
