CHIEF OF DEFENCE STAFF INSPECTS DHQC CONSTRUCTION SITE

Chief of Defence Staff, Air Chief Marshal Kolitha Gunatilleke made an inspection visit to review the progress of construction of the Defence Headquarters Complex (DHQC) in Akuregoda, Battaramulla on 6th May 2016. He was apprised of the developments on site by the Director General of the Project Management Unit of the DHQC, Major General Dammika Weerasekara. The construction of the DHQC was initiated in October 2011 and is progressing as planned with over 6000 personnel from the Tri Services engaged in construction in accordance with the consultancy services provided by the Central Engineering Consultancy Bureau (CECB). The Chief of Defence Staff attended a discussion on current and upcoming issues concerning construction with the Director General of the Project and the technical team. Air Chief Marshal Gunatilleke was accompanied by Major General Lasantha Wickramasuriya, Chief of Staff and Major General Ajith Kariyakarawana, DGGS of the Office of the Chief of Defence Staff during his inspection.
