CHIEF OF DEFENCE STAFF INVITED TO GRACE THE GRADUATION

The graduation ceremony of the leadership programme conducted by the WNS Global Services Pvt Ltd was held with the gracious presence of the Chief of Defence Staff (CDS) General Shavendra Silva WWV RWP RSP VSV USP ndc psc MPhil yesterday evening (09 August 2023) at the HNB Tower, Colombo.

On arrival, General Shavendra Silva was warmly welcomed to the premises respecting the long-rooted traditions of the country. The evening was organised to mark the successful culmination of the 3 month leadership programme. During the colourful evening, the participants were presented with certificates whilst appreciating the best performers of the course.

Delivering the keynote speech as the chief guest, the CDS initially expressed that he was pleased to share his knowledge and experience gained over the years with the future generation of leaders. He further stated that these types of sessions are frequently conducted to groom the next chain of leaders in the corporative sector where he usually gives prominence as it makes a considerable impact on producing a compatible leader to the country. He also emphasised that the young generations should learn not only from the theories but also from sharing the experience.

Addressing the graduands, he mentioned that leadership is a continuous journey of building credibility and proving one's worth. He further elaborated on the unique qualities any leader should practice such as loyalty, integrity, resilience, and leading from the front in any situation. A leader with these qualities can influence the group's vision, aligning everyone towards a common objective and bringing out their best. Speaking to the attendees of the programme, the General highlighted that the leaders should promote teamwork rather than influencing individual effort. Concluding the speech, General Shavendra Silva wished the participants for a brighter future where they can apply their skills for the betterment of the organisation and the country at large.

The chief guest of the evening, General Shavendra Silva was presented with a memento to mark the gracious presence in the evening to share his valuable knowledge. The ceremony was attended by the Managing Director of WNS Global Services (Pvt) Ltd, Mr Dinesh Wickramanayake, many dignitaries in the field, managers, and staff along with a number of distinguished invitees.
