CHIEF OF DEFENCE STAFF MEETS MILITARY HIERARCHY OF MALDIVES NATIONAL DEFENCE FORCE

The Chief of Defence Staff, General Shavendra Silva WWV RWP RSP VSV USP ndc psc MPhil, who is on an official visit to Maldivian Defence Force Headquarters met the Chief of Defence Force Maldives, Major General Abdulla Shamaal and the senior representatives of Maldives National Defence Force (MNDF).

Extending a warm welcome, Major General Abdulla Shamaal gratefully acknowledged the training opportunities that Sri Lankan defence forces have offered to Maldivian Defence Force over the years and the affable meeting went on discussing about enhancing the possible military training opportunities between both nations.

In furtherance, the dialogue also sought solutions to the maritime crimes and illegal activities taking place in the regional waters.

Towards the end of the dialogue, the Chief of Defence Staff appreciated and conveyed his gratefulness for the thoughtful gestures and extended military formalities during the official visit. Further, General Shavendra Silva made it an opportunity to covey his gratefulness to the Maldives National Defence Force for the existing friendship and collaboration that Maldives has extended to Sri Lanka over the generations.

Later, the CDS added his remarks in the visitors’ book marking the visit and the dialogue ended with the hosted official lunch.
