CHIEF OF DEFENCE STAFF PAYS HOMAGE TO SACRED TOOTH RELIC AND CALLS ON MAHANAYAKES OF MALWATTE, ASGIRIYA AND RAMANNA CHAPTERS
The Chief of Defence Staff Admiral Ravindra Wijegunaratne paid homage to the Sacred Tooth Relic at the Sri Dalada Maligawa in Kandy and called on the Mahanayakes of the Malwatte, Asgiriya and Ramanna Chapters today (24th August 2017) to receive blessings on his new appointment. \r\n\r\nThe Chief of Defence Staff was accompanied by his family members and personal staff officers.\r\n\r\nThe Chief of Defence Staff first visited the Sri Dalada Maligawa. Thereafter, he called on the Mahanayake of the Malwatta Chapter, the Most Venerable Tibbatuwawe Sri Siddhartha Sumangala Thero, the Mahanayake of the Asgiriya Chapter, the Most Venerable Warakagoda Sri Gnanarathana Mahanayake Thero, and the Mahanayake of the Ramanna Chapter, the Most Venerable Napana Pemasiri Thero to receive their blessings. He also paid homage at the historical Adahana Maluva Gedige Viharaya.\r\n\r\nThe Mahanayakes invoked the blessings of the Triple Gem on the newly appointed Chief of Defence Staff and delivered Anushasanas wishing strength and courage to carry out his duties with a firm resolve, upholding the traditions and customs which the country is blessed with.
