CHIEF OF DEFENCE STAFF PINS FIRST COMMISSIONING PIPS TO SRI LANKAN OFFICER CADETS AT THE PIPING CEREMONY OF INDIAN MILITARY ACADEMY

In a grand display of military tradition and camaraderie, the Chief of Defence Staff (CDS), General Shavendra Silva WWV RWP RSP VSV USP ndc psc MPhil, graced the Piping Ceremony of the Indian Military Academy (IMA) following the Passing Out Parade at the invitation of the Commandant IMA Lieutenant General Vijay Kumar Mishra AVSM.

The Piping Ceremony unfolded at a meticulously arranged location adjacent to the IMA parade square. General Shavendra Silva took center stage, personally pinning the first pips on the shoulders of the recently passed out four Sri Lankan Officer Cadets, officially ushering them into the ranks of junior officers. The symbolic act was met with the CDS’s hearty congratulations and well-wishes for their future endeavors.

Diplomats from various invited countries also played a crucial role in the ceremony, adorning the shoulders of their respective Officer Cadets who had successfully completed the military training and passed out. The significant occasion blended with this international touch added a unique flavour to the event, showcasing the unity and collaboration among nations in the realm of military training.

Similarly, the proud parents of Indian Officer Cadets joined in the ceremony, personally piping the first pip onto the shoulders of their sons. This heartwarming tradition highlighted the familial support and shared pride in the accomplishments of the newly commissioned officers.

The Piping Ceremony served as a touching conclusion to the Passing Out Parade, encapsulating the rich traditions, international cooperation, and familial bonds that define the ethos of the Indian Military Academy.

The occasion also drew the presence of numerous esteemed guests, including diplomats from allied nations, government officials, as well as parents and well-wishers of the newly commissioned officer cadets.
