CHIEF OF DEFENCE STAFF RECEIVES GRAND MILITARY WELCOME, UNDERSCORING STRONG TIES WITH INDIA

In a resounding demonstration of long-standing military cooperation and mutual admiration, General Shavendra Silva WWV RWP RSP VSV USP ndc psc MPhil, the Chief of Defence Staff (CDS) of Sri Lanka, received a spectacular military guard of honour comprising the Indian Tri-Services during his recent official visit to India. The literal red carpet treatment upon his arrival underscored the warmth and importance of the occasion. General Shavendra Silva visited India at the invitation extended by the Indian CDS, General Anil Chauhan PVSM, UYSM, AVSM, SM, VSM to grace the Passing Out Parade of the Indian Military Academy (IMA). In line with the visit, the Sri Lankan CDS also visited and had bilateral discussions with the Indian Secretary Defence, CDS, Chief of Naval Staff, and a few other military hierarchies.

The Guard of Honour is a meticulously choreographed spectacle of precision and discipline, comprised of elite personnel representing the Indian Army, Navy, and Air Force. Their immaculate uniforms, synchronized movements, and unwavering gazes spoke volumes of the unwavering commitment to regional security shared by both nations.

Later, the senior most serving officer in Sri Lanka also spared time to interact with the respective heads present at the occasion. These discussions, held in a spirit of camaraderie and shared mutuality that long-rooted defence cooperation between the two nations.

This endeavour not only reaffirmed the longstanding bonds between Sri Lanka and India but also showcased the unwavering relationship. General Shavendra Silva's reception served as a powerful testament to the immense value that both nations place on their tri-forces partnership, a partnership built on shared history, mutual trust, and a common vision for a secure future.

The ceremony was also attended by senior officers of the Indian Tri-Services, adding to the grandeur of the occasion. The presence of these esteemed military leaders further underscored the importance of this high-level visit and the commitment both nations share towards strengthening their military ties.
