CHIEF OF DEFENCE STAFF REVIEWS 76TH INDEPENDENCE DAY REHEARSALS

As the nation gears up to commemorate the 76th Anniversary of Independence Day on 4 February, meticulous preparations are underway to ensure a celebration marked by pride and dignity.

At the forefront of these preparations stands, the Chief of Defence Staff (CDS), General Shavendra Silva WWV RWP RSP VSV USP ndc psc MPhil, today (01 February) morning supervised a crucial rehearsal for the grand parade and other arrangements.

The CDS took charge of overseeing the parade rehearsals held at the iconic Galle Face Green accompanied by Commander of the Army Lieutenant General Vikum Liyanage, Commander of the Navy Vice Admiral Priyantha Perera, Commander of the Air Force Air Marshal Udeni Rajapaksa and Acting IGP Deshabandu Tennakoon. With precision and attention to detail, the military leadership observed the proceedings, assessing every aspect of the rehearsal to ensure the highest standards of excellence.

The ceremony is anticipated to maintain its customary grandeur, featuring the participation of the Armed Forces, Police and integral components of the parade.

Following the rehearsal, the CDS along with Tri-Service Commanders and Acting IGP provided further instructions aimed at refining the parade's standard and other necessary arrangements. These directives were conveyed promptly to the respective authorities, underscoring the commitment to executing a flawless ceremony befitting the significance of the occasion.
