CHIEF OF DEFENCE STAFF VISITS SECURITY FORCES HEADQUARTERS IN JAFFNA
Chief of Defence Staff (CDS), Admiral Ravindra C. Wijegunaratne made an official visit to the Security Forces Headquarters in Jaffna, yesterday (28, Sep). During the visit he also met with senior armed forces officials in the peninsula.
This marks the first official visit by Admiral Wijegunaratne to the Jaffna peninsula after assuming office as the CDS.
The Chief of Defence Staff was warmly received by the Commander Security Forces – Jaffna(SFJ) Major General Darshana Hettiarachchi.
Major General Hettiarachchi brief the Chief of Defence Staff on the security situation of the peninsula, followed by presentations made on relevant themes on the ‘Role and Responsibilities of Security Forces (Jaffna) and Military Assistance in Post Conflicts Scenario.
Admiral Wijegunaratne also made a moment to share his views and experiences with armed forces officials present and emphasized on the need for jointness and interoperability among armed forces.
Mementos were also exchanged signifying the event.
The Northern Naval Commander Rear Admiral KKJ De Silva was also present at the occasion.
