CHIEF OF DEFENCE STAFF VISITS SHANGHAI GARRISON COMMANDER

The Chief of Defence Staff (CDS) General Shavendra Silva WWV RWP RSP VSV USP ndc psc MPhil on his way to attend the ‘10th Beijing Xiangshan Forum’ China held a bilateral discussion with the Shanghai Garrison Commander.

A significant aspect of the mutual interaction was the fruitful discussion that took place on current security challenges between the two defence leaders. They exchanged ideas and strategies aimed at strengthening the existing defence ties, which have been rooted in history.

This occasion further solidified the cooperation between the Armed Forces of Sri Lanka and China, setting the stage for continued collaboration in the future. This session not only did acknowledge the historic ties but also created the path for a brighter and more secure future for both countries through strengthened bilateral defence cooperation.

Highlighting the mutual respect and cordiality between the two defence forces, General Shavendra Silva and his spouse were honored with an invitation to a reception hosted by the Shanghai Garrison Commander and his spouse in the evening.

Sri Lankan Difence Advisor in China Colonel Bandula Kodippily accompanied the CDS and the delegation throughout the visit. At the culmination of the session, both leaders exchanged tokens of mementos to mark the occasion.
