CHIEF OF DEFENCE STAFF VISITS SOUTHERN THEATRE COMMAND OF THE CHINESE MILITARY

The Chief of Defence Staff (CDS) General Shavendra Silva WWV RWP RSP VSV USP ndc psc MPhil during his stay in China to attend the 10th Beijing Xiangshan Forum made his way to officially visit the Commander of the Southern Theatre, Gen Wang Xiubin at Guangzhou.

During the ensuing dialogue, CDS thanked for every possible support extended to the Armed Forces of Sri Lanka, particularly the training. He further stated that introducing more joint military exercises would help to foster the existing military cooperation benefiting the nations in the region at large.

Highlighting the mutual respect and cordiality between the two defence forces, General Shavendra Silva and his spouse were honoured with an invitation to a dinner hosted by the Commander of the Southern Theatre, Gen Wang Xiubin at Guangzhou.

Throughout the visit, the Sri Lankan delegation headed by the CDS was accompanied by the Sri Lankan Defence Advisor in China Colonel Bandula Kodippily together with Defence Attaché of China in Sri Lanka Senior Colonel Zhou Bo.

Towards the end of the cordial dialogue, both exchanged plaques to symbolize the historic occasion.
