COLOMBO ILLUMINATES FOR THE CHRISTMAS SEASON

The grand inauguration of the festive initiatives in Sri Lanka took place yesterday evening (17 December 2023) at the iconic Gall Face, Colombo, where the luminous lights not only adorned the roads but also symbolized the bright future of Sri Lanka's tourism industry. The ceremonial evening was graced by the presence of the Minister of Tourism and Lands and Minister of Sports and Youth Affairs Hon Harin Fernando, National Security Advisor to the President Mr Sagala Ratnayaka.

In the spirit of the upcoming Christmas season, the Ministry of Tourism in Sri Lanka has orchestrated a series of programmes aimed at attracting and promoting tourism within the country.The Galle Face, Colombo was illuminated with festive colours with its Christmas decorations including the beautiful Christmas tree that would catch the attention of the visitors. These arrangements also display the festive spirit and convey the message of peace and harmony among all, regardless of religion or ethnicity.

The Chief of Defence Staff (CDS) General Shavendra Silva WWV RWP RSP VSV USP ndc psc MPhil attended the opening ceremony, held against the backdrop of the enchanting Gall Face that marked the beginning of a season filled with joy, celebration, and a warm welcome for tourists. His attendance highlighted the collaborative effort between the Ministry of Tourism and the nation's defence forces. Furthermore, the CDS pledged the full support of the tri-forces to ensure the success of these endeavours, emphasising the importance of a secure and welcoming environment for visitors.

Foreign diplomats and a number of distinguished invitees and guests involved in Sri Lankan Tourism were also present at the evening.
