COMMANDER OF THE AIR FORCE CALLS ON CHIEF OF DEFENCE STAFF

The newly appointed Commander of the Air Force, Air Marshal Sumangala Dias called on the Chief of Defence Staff Admiral Ravindra C. Wijegunaratne at the Office of the Chief of Defence Staff(OCDS), at BMICH today evening (17th June 2019).\r\n\r\nThis marks the new Air Force Chief 's first official meeting with the Chief of Defence Staff since assuming duty as the 17th Commander of the Sri Lanka Air Force on 30th May 2019.

Air Marshal Sumangala Dias has joined the Sri Lanka Air Force on 13th December 1984 as an Officer Cadet in the General Duties Pilot Branch of the 13th Officer Cadet intake. Air Marshal Dias had been the Chief of Staff of the Air Force w.e.f 01st October 2016 until he was appointed as the 17th Commander of the Sri Lanka Air Force. He has been decorated with a number of military medals including Rana Sura Padakkama awarded four times.

During the cordial discussion held, Admiral Wijegunaratne conveyed his best wishes to the new Commander of the Air Force. Subsequent to the discussion, mementos were also exchanged signifying the occasion.
