COMMANDER OF THE ARMY CALLS ON CHIEF OF DEFENCE STAFF

The newly appointed Commander of the Army, Lieutenant General LHSC Silva, WWV, RSP, VSV, USP, ndc, psc called on the Chief of Defence Staff Admiral Ravindra C. Wijegunaratne at the Office of the Chief of Defence Staff (OCDS), at BMICH today (06th September 2019).

This marks the new Army Chief 's first official meeting with the Chief of Defence Staff since assuming the duty as the 23rd Commander of the Sri Lanka Army on 18th August 2019.

Lieutenant General LHSC Silva has joined the Sri Lanka Army on 05th March 1984 as an Officer Cadet in the Gajaba Regiment as the first ever Gajaba Regiment Officer originally posted to the Regiment since its inception. He had been the Chief of Staff of the Army w.e.f 09th January 2019 and Colonel of the Regiment for Gajaba Regiment and Commando Regiment at the time he was appointed as the 23rd Commander of the Sri Lanka Army. He is one of the highest decorated military officers with Weera Wickrama Vibushanaya (WWV), Rana Wickrama Padakkama (RWP) and Rana Soora Padakkama (RSP) for his acts of gallantry and bravery against the ruthless terrorists Group, the LTTE.

During the cordial discussion held, Admiral Wijegunaratne conveyed his best wishes to the new Commander of the Army. Subsequent to the discussion, mementos were also exchanged signifying the occasion.
