CORNERSTONE IS CEREMONIALLY LAID FOR THE SRI LANKA EX-SERVICEMEN’S ASSOCIATION HEADQUARTERS BUILDING

The cornerstone for the proposed headquarters building of the Sri Lanka Ex-Servicemen’s Association (SLESA) was laid at an auspicious time in the morning today (17 August 2023) near the Defence Headquarters Complex, Akuregoda.

At the auspicious minute, amid chanting of ‘Seth Pirith’, the day’s invitees; the Secretary to the Ministry of Defence, the Chief of Defence Staff, Commanders of the Army and Navy, and the Chief of Staff of the Sri Lanka Air Force along with the President of SLESA Major General Upul Perera (Retd) USP laid the corner-stones for construction of the new headquarters complex.

At the invitation extended by the president of the SLESA, the Chief of Defence Staff General Shavendra Silva WWV RWP RSP VSV USP ndc psc MPhil attended the event where he was warmly welcomed by the president and members of the association. Sharing thoughts, he wished the association and members the success of this endeavor. He also assured his continued support for the completion of the construction and related activities as scheduled.

The event was also attended by senior military officers, well-wishers, and members of the association.
